See What’s New at Professional Family Eyecare
Seventy years of caring for local families has given us plenty to talk about.
This October, we are pinning a few important updates to the Professional Family Eyecare bulletin board. We are putting eye disease awareness in the spotlight, celebrating a milestone birthday, introducing a new option for children with myopia, and making contact lens reorders a little easier.
If it has been a while since we have seen you, consider this your friendly catch-up.
What’s New at Professional Family Eyecare?
A lot can happen between eye exams. Here is what has been happening with us.
Three Eye Diseases Worth Knowing About
October is a good time to put your eye health back on the radar.
Some eye diseases can begin or progress with few noticeable symptoms. A comprehensive eye exam gives your optometrist a closer look at both your vision and the health of your eyes, including changes you may not notice on your own.
Here are three eye diseases worth knowing about.
AMD: Protecting Central Vision
Age-related macular degeneration, or AMD, affects the macula, the part of the retina responsible for sharp central vision. Changes can make activities such as reading, driving, and recognizing faces more difficult.
Glaucoma: Often Quiet at First
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve. Some forms can progress before noticeable vision changes appear, making eye health evaluations and ongoing monitoring especially valuable.
Professional Family Eyecare uses diagnostic technology to evaluate the optic nerve, eye pressure, and other signs that may help our doctors detect and monitor glaucoma.
Diabetic Retinopathy: Changes Can Start Early
Diabetes can affect the small blood vessels in the retina. Diabetic retinopathy may begin before a person notices changes in their vision, which is why regular diabetic eye care is an important part of protecting eye health.
Our doctors can monitor the retina for changes and coordinate additional care when needed.
A Simple Reminder About Your Eye Health
You do not need to figure out what is causing a vision change before scheduling an appointment.
If something looks or feels different, or it’s been a while since your last comprehensive eye exam, our doctors can take a closer look.
70 Years of Caring for Local Families
1956 → 2026
Professional Family Eyecare has served the community since 1956. This year, we are celebrating 70 years of caring for generations of local families.
Plenty has changed in eye care during that time. Technology has changed. Treatment options have changed. Our family-owned practice has grown to four locations.
The relationships at the heart of our practice still matter just as much.
Today, our team continues to care for children, parents, grandparents, and families throughout Western Ohio and Eastern Indiana with personal attention, modern technology, and a healthy dose of fun along the way.
Thank you for trusting our family with yours for 70 years.
New for Kids With Myopia: Stellest® Lenses
If your child’s distance prescription keeps getting stronger, there may be more to discuss than simply updating their glasses.
Professional Family Eyecare now offers Essilor® Stellest® lenses, prescription spectacle lenses authorized by the FDA to correct myopia and help slow its progression in eligible children aged 6 to 12 when treatment begins.
Stellest lenses are worn as eyeglasses, giving families another myopia management option without requiring contact lenses.
Our doctors can evaluate your child’s prescription, eye health, and individual needs, then discuss whether Stellest lenses or another myopia treatment option may be appropriate.
Order Your Contact Lenses Online
Running low on contacts no longer has to mean another errand.
Professional Family Eyecare patients can order a new supply of contact lenses online through our website. If your contact lens prescription is current, you can reorder from home.
If it is time to update your prescription, our team can help you arrange a contact lens exam first.

Questions About Insurance?
Insurance should make eye care easier to access, but figuring out which benefits apply can sometimes take a little help.
Professional Family Eyecare accepts a wide range of health and vision plans. Vision and medical benefits can apply differently depending on the reason for your visit, and individual coverage varies by plan.
If you have questions before scheduling, our team can help you understand the basics and determine what information you may need from your insurer.
Has It Been a While?
Life gets busy. Eye appointments have a way of slipping down the list.
If you have been meaning to come back, noticed something different with your vision, or realized it’s been longer than you thought, we would be happy to welcome you back.
After 70 years, catching up with our patients is still one of our favorite parts of the job.
